  • Boo Boo Kitty Empire

Boo Boo Kitty Empire’s epic catchphrase was delivered by Cookie referring to Anika Calhoun, Cookie’s ex-husband, Lucious Lyon’s former girlfriend.

Taraji P. Henson explains that that she came up with the nickname “straight off the cuff.”  In one of our favorite episodes of Empire Cookie dropped the iconic catchphrase, “Boo Boo Kitty” and it was on from there!

    Boo Boo Kitty Empire

She is surprisingly sick of the phrase yet Empire’s writers are addicted to Boo Boo Kitty!  The second season of the TV series Empire will premiere on September 23, 2015.

Who Plays Anika on Empire? Anika is played by Empire’s Grace Gealey.  Many fell in love with Grace Gealey’s lingerie scene from the first season of the hip-hop series:

One of the individuals that fell in love Anika, Empire’s Boo Boo Kitty was Andre Lyon: During the first season of the Empire TV show the Grace Gealey and Trai Byers dating rumor began.

    Grace Gealey Biography
Describing her youth, Grace Gealey explains, “I was such a tomboy.  My most vivid memories are summers, when we used to run around barefoot and climb trees.  It was very freeing.”

Grace Gealey was born on July 26, 1984 in Butler, PA.  Her mother is Afro-Caribbean and her father is American.  Gealey moved from Pennsylvania when she was young but visited Philadelphia frequently.  “I loved the food,” she states.

    Grace Gealey’s Ethnic Background
Many believe Gealey resembles actress Halle Barry and are uncertain of Grace Gealey’s ethnic background.  The 31-year-old actress was raised in the Cayman Islands from infancy.

Grace Gealey’s biography now transitions to her time in the United States.  After Gealey moved to the United States she attended the University of South Florida in Tampa.  She received her B.A. in Theater Arts.  While she attended USF, acting enabled her to communicate viscerally, a desire that came from being a child that grew up with hearing-impaired parents.

Gealey and her older sister communicated with their parents through sign language, which they learned at a very early age.

Grace Gealey experienced numerous cultural differences upon moving to the United States including the whole light-skinned/dark-skinned war.

“For me personally, it’s the whole
light-skinned/dark-skinned dynamic [for women of color]. I mean there’s
competition among women everywhere you go. But back home we understand that you
can look like a variety of things and still be from the same culture,” Gealey
explained. “What I’m saying is that I’ve never felt like I was a light-skinned
Black woman. Never felt that way because we shared the same culture back home.”

After graduating from USF Gealey obtained her M.F.A. in Acting from the University of California, Irvine.  Upon graduating, Gealey moved to New York City where she performed Off-Broady.  Gealey then moved to Chicago where she played in numerous short films and national commercials.
Empire marks Grace Gealey’s network television debut.

    Lucious Locked Up
Lucious is arrested at the end of the first season yet we are certain that Cookie is not the one that snitched.  Although Lucious has not been loyal to Cookie we think that she will continue to stand by his side.

When we met Lucious the powerful label executive was battling ALS and it is now game time.  The music industry and prison go hand-in-hand.  Rappers like Lil’ Wayne, Gucci Mane and T.I. have all served time.  Music executives like Suge Knight and most recently Diddy, have had issues with the law.
    Lucious Lyon Empire Second Season
There are two justice systems in America: One that caters to the people that have and another that controls the have nots.  The former drug dealer was once a have not that may have received the unfair treatment that everyone else gets yet the circumstances have changed in Mr. Lyon’s favor:  The hip-hop mogul and CEO of Empire Entertainment can afford to hire a top-notch lawyer to ensure that he will not serve a substantial amount of time in prison.
As Lucious Lyon explains, “The streets couldn’t defeat me.  Disease could stop me.  Even God can’t kill me.  The day will come when Lucious Lyon will return.”
