  • Trai Byers Wants To Leave ‘Empire’? Say It Isn’t So!

Empire fans got a bit of a scare this week when a rumor that actor Trai Byers wanted to leave Empire. NY Post‘s Page Six reported that Byers, who plays Andre Lyon, was exhibiting “diva” behavior, and was upset that Andre wasn’t getting much screentime. Like Andre, Byers is an Ivy League-educated actor. “He feels that he studied at Yale and he’s a ‘true thespian,” a source told Page Six. “At first, being on ‘Empire’ was major for him. But he feels his character is not as important this season, and he hates not being the star.”

But Byers responded on Instagram saying that’s not at all the case. He posted a photo to his IG account with a lengthy caption explaining the situation. Here it is, in his own words:
I don’t normally spend my time dispelling rumors, but there is something I’d like to address. I have nothing but love and respect for “Empire” and all who are involved on the show. I have a fabulous relationship with FOX, and hold myself to the highest standards professionally. How could I think of demanding something larger than Andre, where I get to express a man with Bipolar disorder, who is on a spiritual journey to find his identity? I’m so proud, so happy, and so lucky to be a part of this cast. This show has started my career. See you in Season Three!

Byers is engaged to Empire co-star Grace Gealey. So rest assured, Andre Lyon is here to stay for the rest of Season 2 and we’ll see him in Season 3! Whew.

False Alarm: Trai Byers Fired From Empire

On Thursday morning, Media Take Out reported that actor Trai Byers–who plays Andre Lyon on ‘Empire’–wanted to quit the show.  The article suggested that Byers believed that playing Andre was beneath him as a “true thespian” that studied at Yale.

Trai Byers Dispels Media Take Out Rumors

After reading the story many die hard Empire fans attempted to confirm the news, searching “Trai Byers fired from Empire” via Google, just to find the identical story on Page Six.

If you are anything like me, you were highly upset at this point.  With less than a month before Empire returns we find out that Jamal and Hakeem would no longer have their big brother.
Then Trai Byers posted the following message via Instagram, explaining that he has nothing but love for Empire and he is proud to be a part of the cast.  “This show started my career.  See you in Season Three!”

Glennis Grace, Empire’s leading lady in the Netherlands, does a wonderful job in her version of the song:
In a video somewhat similar to Jamal Lyon’s Pepsi commercial, Grace shows off her amazing voice forcing tears:
It is becoming rather difficult to refer to the song as Jussie Smollett’s or Jamal Lyon’s as Glennis Grace has performed the track a countless amount of times! Here she is performing it live:
Glennis Grace was born on June 19, 1978 in the Netherlands.  In 2005, she won the national selection for the Eurovision Song Contest in the Netherlands with her song ‘My Impossible Dream‘ yet she did not advance to the semifinals.
The award-winning singer won over a large amount of fans by paying homage to Whitney Houston.  Grace was discovered after winning a Dutch TV talent show where she performed Houston’s “One Moment In Time.”
Here’s Grace paying tribute to Whitney Houston, performing ‘I Will Always Love You’ at the Heineken Music Hall:

When we meet Puma he is a horse rider who has retired from songwriting.  Cookie finds Puma on a beautiful ranch and it is clear that the two share a romantic past.  Cookie doesn’t have time for it though, she was too focused on convincing him to write a song for Jamal.
Let’s explore some of Cuba Gooding, Jr.’s recent role which has received wonderful reviews.
