    Fidel Castro has died at 90 years old.  He was born on August 13, 1926 near Birán, Cuba.  He will be cremated Saturday.  Earlier this week, San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick praised Castro during a press conference.  When asked about a shirt he wore earlier this year, Kaepernick complimented Castro’s commitment to criminal justice reform and education.

    Fidel Castro was Cuba’s Prime Minister from 1959 to 1976.  He is best known for orchestrating the Cuban Revolution.  Castro was the President of Cuba from 1976 to 2008.  In 1945 he began studying law at the University of Havana.  After graduating in 1950 he joined the Cuban People’s Party.  By 1959 he overthrew Fulgencia Batista and became the country’s prime minister.

    When Did Fidel Castro Die?

    Castro died on Friday, November 26, 2016 at 10:29 PM local time according to Cuban media outlets.  Unlike previous rumors about Castro’s death, the news has been confirmed.  His prolonged absence from the public led many to believe that he was dead last year but that was not the case.

    Castro’s death was announced by his brother, Cuban President Raul Castro.  In the 1950s, Raul was a rebel commander.  When Fidel rose to power, Raul instantly became one of the party’s most important figures.  From 1959 to 2008 he was the Minister of the Armed Forces.

    A man was shot and killed by a police officer outside the Skybox sports bar in the Homan Square neighborhood of Chicago.  The incident occurred on Friday, November 25, 2016 at 12:25 AM.  Officers shot the man after witnessing the gunman shoot two people, one of them fatally.  The city’s crime continues to worsen and we’ll explore the reasons in this post.

    Scroll towards the bottom of this post to see a video that provides additional details about the shooting outside the Skybox sports bar.  August 2016 was the city’s deadliest month in almost 20 years with over 90 people killed.  While 90 died, more than 400 people were shot.

    The root of the problem is refusing to admit that there is a problem.  Many argue that crime has decreased in 2011.  This is true but shootings increased in 2015.

    Gang violence is one of Chicago’s most serious problems.  Gang members demand respect and don’t think twice about murdering rival gang members when they feel disrespected.  One unique aspect of this issue is the role that social media plays.

    While many use social media platforms to collaborate and share content, gang members use social media to wage war against rival gangs.  While privacy is important, social media networks like Facebook and Twitter, must find innovative ways to reduce the interaction on their platforms that leads to violence.

    It’s elementary: When two children get into a fight we separate them.  The same theory must be applied here in order to reduce violence.  It starts with the social media networks.

    More details about the Kajuan Raye Chicago police shooting have been released.  The sergeant who killed the 19-year-old claimed that he pointed a gun at him twice.  Authorities have not found a weapon.  The shooting occurred on Wednesday, November 23, 2016, one day before Thanksgiving.  The sergeant responded to a call of a battery in progress.

    The sergeant claims that Kajuan matched the description of the battery suspect.  As mentioned above, the sergeant also claimed that Kajuan had a gun therefore it’s difficult to believe any information he provides.  In a city where law enforcement has been unable to combat gun violence, it’s difficult to accept any mistakes made by police officers.

    BLM Protest Chicago

    On Black Friday, November 25, 2016, protesters in Chicago marched, demanding changes to the criminal justice system.  The activists disrupted holiday shopping in order to raise awareness about police misconduct.  Protesters blocked stores along the Magnificent Mile.  Less people came out this year compared to last year due to the cold weather.

    We’re praying for change in Chicago.  Gang violence must decrease and police officers have to build bonds with the city’s residents.  Until then, the violence will continue.  “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, working together is success.”  -Henry Ford

    The talented rapper recently kicked a fan out her concert for having their phone out.  The Brooklyn emcee used Jamie Foxx’s advice and blamed it on the alcohol.  The incident occurred in Baltimore, Maryland at Paparazzi Nightclub.

    Soon the rapper will be begging for fans and paparazzi to put their phones and cameras away similar to Kanye West.  Young MA recently became famous therefore she’s loving the attention.  Give her a few more years and she’ll be complaining about privacy.

    XXL reports that rapper, Nicki Minaj dropped a freestyle over Young M.A’s “OOOUUU” instrumental.  If you haven’t heard it scroll down to the Soundcloud player below.  All eyes were on Young M.A as those unfamiliar with the Brooklyn rapper began to search for more information.  After hearing her for the first time many wonder if she’s a boy or girl.

    According to The Boom Box Nicki Minaj gives the Brooklyn rapper a shout out in her “Pinkprint Freestyle”, calling her the female Jay.  We were surprised to hear Minaj’s compliment because we thought that Minaj considered herself the female Jay-Z.

    It’s great hearing new music from Nicki Minaj considering all the drama she’s been dealing with lately.  Her brother, 37-year-old, Jelani Maraj recently received divorce papers from his wife.  In December 2015 he was arrested for raping a 12-year-old on multiple occasions.  If convicted, he faces 15 years to life in prison.

    While Nicki represents Queens, Young M.A was born and raised in the same borough as Jay-Z, Brooklyn.  Similar to Nicki, Young M.A experienced a tragedy involving her brother.  When she was 17 her brother got murdered.  The incident changed the rapper’s life and explains why she works so hard.

    Kim and Khloe Kardashian fight for attention in their new photoshoot pictures for 032 Magazine.  The sisters are seen in the shower holding hands and on the beach having a battle of the buns.  The photoshoot took place in Calabasas, California home of Kanye West’s Yeezy Studio.  Earlier this year Kim Kardashian and Kanye West broke ground on their new home in Calabasas.

    In the final taping of Khloe Kardashian’s talk show, Kim reveals that her and Kanye spent more than $8 million to remodel the house.  The rapper recently canceled the remaining dates of his Saint Pablo tour.  The rapper’s rants began receiving more attention than his innovative performances which featured a floating stage.

    Kanye called out his longtime friend, Jay-Z, regarding their daughters not having a relationship and his streaming service, Tidal.  Kanye often discusses the “lights” in his music as an analogy for fame.  His hard work has paid off but the lights are now too bright for him.  We’re glad he’s taking some time off.

    Love and Hip Hop‘s Traci Steele made her debut on Donnie After Dark on Thanksgiving night.  You most likely remember the DJ and Radio Personality from Love and Hip Hop Atlanta‘s second season.  She was born on November 6, 1978 in the Bronx, New York.  When she was 19-years-old she decided to enlist in the Air Force.

    While stationed in Virginia, Steele landed a gig at Virginia Beach’s WWHV Hot 102.1 where she worked hard to learn about the industry.  Fast forward 15 years and Traci’s now a veteran in the radio game.

    Musiq SoulChild noticed her talent and invited her to tour with him.  She accepted and travelled the world with his band.  Steele has also toured with Jazmine Sullivan and Ne-Yo.  Traci eventually ended up in Atlanta, Georgia where she landed a gig on Hot 107.9 ATL.

    Unlike many Radio Personalities, Traci’s beautiful enough to be on camera.  The 38-year-old can be seen alongside Donnie Simpson on his new talk show Donnie After Dark.

    The talk show airs on TV One on Wednesdays at 9/8c.  DC Youngfly recently appeared on the talk show.
