Lucious Lyon (Terrence Howard) is Cookie’s ex-husband. Lucious abandoned Cookie by refusing to visit her in jail but the their relationship has improved since. After being removed as Empire’s CEO Lucious decides to pop off his machine gun in his mansion.

After being removed as Empire’s CEO Lucious decides to pop off his machine gun, causing damage to his mansion. Cookie is able to calm him down and Lucious acknowledges her sacrifice, the 17 years she spent in prison to start the company that he has lost.
Cookie and Boo Boo Kitty
Anika Calhoun (Grace Gealey) aka “Boo Boo Kitty” is Lucious’ love interest in the show’s first season. Anika catches Cookie and Lucious having sex leading her to break up with Lucious.

Anika attempts to help Cookie develop Lyon Dynasty yet Cookie refuses to work with her. Anika is currently pregnant with Hakeem’s baby, Cookie’s grandchild.
Cookie and Andre
Andre Lyon (Trai Byers) is Cookie oldest son. The two have a great relationship despite Andre leaving Lyon Dynasty to work with Lucious at Empire. Cookie hated seeing Andre battle through his health condition in the show’s first season but it has brought them closer.

In Empire’s second season, Cookie is very excited when Andre informs her that she will be a grandmother yet Andre’s wife Rhonda may lose the baby after being pushed down the stairs of their home.
Cookie and Jamal
Jamal Lyon (Jussie Smollett) is Cookie’s middle son and the two have a special bond. When Jamal was younger Lucious put him in the trashcan and Cookie stood up for him.

In the show’s second season Jamal is presented with the opportunity to be the next face of Pepsi if he can come up with the winning song. Jamal asks Cookie to help him with the song behind Lucious’ back. Jamal ends up working with Lucious and Cookie to land the Pepsi sponsorship.
Cookie and Hakeem
Hakeem Lyon (Bryshere Y. Gray) is Cookie’s youngest son. In the first season Cookie and Hakeem have a horrible relationship but Cookie shows Hakeem that she demands respect. In Empire’s second season Cookie and Hakeem develop a strong bond.

In the show’s midseason finale Mimi calls for an emergency board meeting to remove Lucious as board chairman and CEO of Empire. Cookie gives her proxy vote to Hakeem, explaining to him that Lyon Dynasty is their company but Empire is their legacy. Hakeem ignores Cookie’s advice and votes to transfer Empire to Mimi who transfers her responsibilities to Camilla.
Cookie and Camilla
Camilla Marks (Naomi Campbell) aka “Yoko” is Hakeem’s bae who Cookie dislikes. In the show’s first season Cookie shuts Camilla down at Empire’s White Party. Camilla explains to Cookie that she’s not one of her “jailbird mates” Cookie responds, “I wish you were. You probably would’ve made a good bitch for me. You look like you got a long tongue.”

After Mimi transfers her responsibilities to Camilla, Camilla names Hakeem Empire Entertainment’s new CEO. When Cookie realizes that Hakeem votes with Camilla she turns to Camilla and spits in her face!
Cookie’s Assistant Porsha
Porsha Taylor (Ta’Rhonda Jones) is Cookie Lyon’s assistant. In the show’s second season Porsha is caught jumping a subway turnstile. When ticketed, Porsha gives the police the name “Cookie Lyon” leading Cookie to fire her.

Porsha then shows up to Cookie’s office with a guard dog, Whoopty Whoo, “the baddest bitch in town”. Initially Cookie refuses Porsha’s gift but then changes her mind, accepts Whoopty Whoo and gives Porsha a second chance.
Malcolm DeVeaux
Malcolm DeVeaux (Derek Luke) was the head of security for Empire Entertainment and Cookie Lyon’s ex-lover. While Cookie is surprised that Empire has a new security team she is delighted to meet Malcolm!

Malcolm tells Cookie that he violated his personal code of conduct and had been disloyal to Lucious by falling for Cookie. Empire’s ‘Who I Am’ episode was Malcolm’s last and we are still praying that he returns!
Laz Delgado
Laz Delgado (Adam Rodriguez) first appeared on Empire on the show’s ‘Be True’ episode. Cookie hired Laz, a former NYPD cop, as a promoter for her new record label, Lyon Dynasty.

Adam and Taraji were also lovers in the 2009 film I Can Do Bad All By Myself. Similar to Malcolm, Laz doesn’t last. Cookie and Laz breakup after Lucious informs Cookie that Laz is a part of the 125th Street Bulls, the gang that snatched Hakeem.
