  • Who Is Pat In Real Life BMF – Edrick “50 Boy ED” Boyd, Wood Harris

Who is Pat on the Starz BMF series in real life? Pat is played by actor Wood Harris and based on Edrick “E.D.” Boyd. The Gangster Report explains that “Black Pat” is based on Boyd and Harold “H-Town” “Halloween” Mills. While Boyd led the 50 Boyz, Mills was Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory’s first wholesale supplier.

Mills and Dexter “Sosa” Hussey own separate versions of the registered-trademark copyright and licensing for “BMF” and the term “Black Mafia Family.” While Hussey owns the term for film and television, Mills owns the term and phrase for merchandising.

Complex explains that Boyd mentored Meech and Terry in their early days as the 50 Boyz, giving them the wisdom they needed to evolve into the Black Mafia Family.

In the video below, Boyd explains that he was born in Detroit and moved to Brooklyn, New York when he was 3-years-old. Boyd’s father was a professional box who died playing Russian roulette. He caught his first case when he was 10-years-old for spraying graffiti. He learned the drug game from a Puerto Rican in Brooklyn named Cesar.

Boyd was initially a lookout for Cesar and eventually learned everything he needed to know to become a successful drug dealer. Boyd’s mother eventually decided to leave New York and move back to Detroit.

Boyd graduated from Ecorse High School in 1981 and his mother sent him to Miami, Florida to become an air traffic controller. Boyd’s family owned a carwash on Joy Road and Quincy Street that his family used as a cover for illegal activity including dealing drugs and running numbers.

Boyd would run into drug dealers at the car wash and he eventually started selling drugs with a dealer named Bear. Boyd tried to convince Bear that they needed to start selling drugs in Southwest, Detroit and Ecorse but Bear wasn’t convinced so Boyd eventually started selling drugs with his own crew in Southwest, Detroit and Ecorse.

Boyd eventually established relationships with Raymond Peoples and Herbie but he never did any business with YBI leader, Butch Jones. YBI stands for Young Boys Incorporated, a major drug gang in Detroit, Michigan.

  • Who Is B-Mickie In Real Life? BMF – D. Meeks, Myles Truitt

Who is B-Mickie on the Starz BMF series in real life? B-Mickie is played by actor Myles Truitt and based on Big Meech and Southwest T’s childhood friend, Derrick “D. Meeks”.

In the video below, the real D. Meeks explains that he’s from Southwest, Detroit and he grew up around the corner from Demetrius “Big Meech” Flenory and Terry “Southwest T” Flenory.

    D. Meeks moved to Detroit when he was 2-years-old and started selling drugs when he was 17. Initially, D. Meeks was selling bundles of heroin but that didn’t go too well since he was new to the game, so he started selling rocks of cocaine.

Growing up, D. Meeks and Demetrius (Big Meech) were best friends. D. Meeks explains that Demetrius and his family was not well off so D. Meeks would often give him and Terry money. In 1985, D. Meeks, Demetrius and Terry met Edrick “E.D.” Boyd, a New Yorker who caught their attention because of the way he dressed and his mindset.

Around 1986, D. Meeks, Demetrius and Southwest T started selling drugs. When they first started, they weren’t called the 50 Boyz. People didn’t start calling them the 50 Boyz until they years down the road.

    D. Meeks explains that Edrick taught him, Demetrius and Southwest T the game from teaching them how to dress to teaching them how to sell drugs. D. Meeks says that they would attend concerts together and go out to eat on a regular basis.

    D. Meeks lists some of his best moments with Demetrius and Terry back in the day, revealing that they met Flavor Flav and Public Enemy and had some unforgettable trips to Las Vegas. “We knew all the rappers, we knew all the basketball players, we was hanging with stars!”

    D. Meeks says everything about the street life wasn’t positive. He explains that for 2 years, him, Big Meech and Southwest T had a hit on them. Everywhere they went, they had to have a gun for protection. They were from Southwest, Detroit, and they took over Southwest Detroit, Willow Run, River Rouge, Inkster and Ecorse, becoming some of the most successful drug dealers of all-time. Taking over those territories led to beef with rival drug dealing gangs, and as D. Meeks describes, they were at war.

    D. Meeks reveals that he went to jail for a couple years. He had a good lawyer and beat 3-4 cases. He made a large amount of money but explains that when the FEDs or police break you down, they really break you down. He says E.D. didn’t serve jail time because he laid low, and the crew he built under them, like the 50 Boyz were the ones who ended up serving time.

    D. Meeks says that he made $1.2 million on a bike and says that him Big Meech, Southwest T, the 50 Boyz and the Black Mafia Family were the greatest and there will never be anything like the 50 Boyz again.

    D. Meeks proclaims that 50 Cent can’t tell the BMF story correctly without giving Edrick E.D. Boyd credit for teaching him, Big Meech and Southwest T the drug game.

The real life Layton Simon has many nicknames. Some call him “OG Layton Simon” while others call him “The Beast” and “Dawg.” Simon is a street legend in Southwest, Detroit.

According to The Gangster Report, on the streets of Southwest Detroit, Simon garners just as much respect as Big Meech and Southwest T.

In an interview with the Original Gangsters podcast, Layton Simon explains that he grew up playing baseball in Detroit and he met Harold Stinson through his Stinson’s brother, Chuckie.

    Layton Simon

Simon explains that he was on his way to a baseball game in the 1970s, when he happened to meet a man that went by the nickname Dirty Diamond “Dirt” or “Dirk”, it is difficult to make out what Layton says his name was during the interview. Dirty Diamond Dirt had a 20-carat ring on, and Layton asked about it. Layton received information about Harold Stinson after asking about Dirty Diamond Dirt’s ring.

Layton eventually got introduced to Harold, who had a relationship with Walter Cason. These were the drug dealers who supplied their work to the streets before the Flenory brothers, Big Meech and Southwest T.

Layton was 14-years, in the 1970s when he met Harold Stinson and by the time he was 15, he bought a brand new 1973 Cadillac with the money he earning from selling drugs. Harold bought his whole crew Cadillacs and offered to buy one for Layton, but Layton refused to accept one because he wanted to purchase the car on his own.

Lamar discusses Chester Campbell, one of the most infamous hitmen who worked for the Italian mafia and black gangs throughout the 1970s and 1980s.

Simon explains that he came up as a drug dealer, under Harold Stinson in the 1970s. Harold’s second in command was his childhood friend, Walter Cason, until Harold and Walter had a falling out. Walter Cason has a nephew named Bobby and Harold Stinson has a sister named Linda. Bobby and Linda got into an argument and Bobby ended up fighting Linda. The small family feud would eventually lead to Harold and Walter falling out and on July 1, 1977, Harold Stinson was murdered.

Layton eventually climbed the latter, becoming one of the drug kingpins in Southwest Detroit. He started hearing about the 50 Boyz crew who were making a name for themselves by selling $50 bags of cocaine on the streets of Detroit in the 1980s. Simon describes how surprised he was when he saw how much cocaine was in one of the bags supplied by the 50 Boyz: “8 balls were $50” Simon explains, “I rule 12th Street.”

Layton’s response to the $50 bags was his “Flintstones” which was an 8 ball of cocaine that he sold for $10. He called the bag Flintstones because the rocks were so big. Big Meech and Southwest T outsmarted Layton, and eventually connected with a police officer named Sam. Once Sam moved into an apartment complex on 12th Street, Layton decided to leave, allowing Big Meech and Southwest T to dominate the market.

In 2014, rappers Psyke Sconi and Bigg Pauliee released the track “OG Layton Simon”:

Simon is seen at the end of the video, discussing someone that he put in a trunk and drugs.
