On Thursday, January 12, 2023, YouTube influencer CJ So Cool was shot four times during a home invasion. Fox 5 Vegas the the social media star, whose real name is Cordero James Brady, is recovering at Sunrise Hospital after the shooting.

Initially, many believed that CJ was pulling a prank but People reports that the internet personality cleared up the rumors via Instagram:

2. CJ was asleep when 2 people broke into his house
CJ So Cool was asleep when two people broke into his house through his garage door. He didn’t hear the home invaders break into his garage door but he heard them kick in the door to his bedroom. CJ woke up with flashlights in his face and they started shooting him. CJ grabbed his gun from his nightstand and started shooting back.
3. The shooting occurred at CJ’s house in Henderson, Nevada
The incident occurred at CJ’s house in Henderson, Nevada which is about 16 miles away from Las Vegas. In March of 2022, CJ shared a video on YouTube revealing that him and his family moved into the new home in MacDonald Highlands which is an affluent neighborhood in Henderson, Nevada.
CJ’s neighborhood is heavily secured, leading police to believe that this was a targeted attack. CJ says that he has to move now because his address was shared on the news.
4. None of CJ’s kids were home during the home invasion
Luckily, none of CJ’s children were at his house at the time of the incident. CJ has six children, three biological, Camari, whose mother is Ni’Kee Lewis and twins Cordayah and Cordero Jr., who CJ welcomed with his ex, Royalty Johnson.
CJ is also a father figure to Royalty’s three kids from a previous relationship, Leonidas, J’aaliyah and Karnation. Camari was supposed to be at CJ’s house at the time of the incident but luckily she wasn’t.

CJ explained that all the bullets are gone because he was shot at close range. He was pushing the gun down while the invaders were trying to shoot him.
6. CJ was shot in his right thigh, fracturing his femur bone
CJ was shot in his right thigh, which caused a fracture to his femur bone. CJ explained that although doctors believe he will need a few weeks to recover, he has already been walking around and bending his legs.
7. Rumors allege that Royalty was involved
After the shooting, there were rumors that CJ’s ex, Royalty Johnson was a part of the home invasion, setting him up to be robbed. Royalty is the mother of two of CJ’s six kids, Cordeyah and Cordero Jr.
Royalty posted the video above, on her YouTube channel, explaining that it is mind blowing for people to think that she was involved in the robbery of CJ’s home because he is the father of her kids so there she wouldn’t benefit if he were harmed.
8. CJ explained that being hit in his head saved his life
CJ explained that being hit in the head saved his life. CJ thought he was experiencing sleep paralysis before one of the invaders him in the head, causing him to fall. After the fall, CJ realized that he wasn’t dreaming and remembered that his gun was nearby. He grabbed his gun and started shooting back.
9. CJ’s address may have been leaked on YouTube
Some believe that the home invaders got CJ’s address from a YouTube video he posted to his channel titled Family Time With Camari and Alexis “Lexi” Lohmier. In the video, Camari was ordering clothes online while Lexi was recording.
Camari asked Lexi to stop recording but she allegedly refused to do so. There is speculation that CJ’s address was seen on the computer that Camari was using.
10. Rumors allege that Lexi was involved
After the shooting, rumors started swirling about CJ’s girlfriend, Lexi allegedly being part of the home invasion, setting CJ up to be robbed. Some have called CJ out for trusting Lexi more than he trusts Royalty although him and Lexi have only been dating for a short period of time. CJ and Lexi shut down the rumors in a YouTube video titled “Scariest Moment of My Life.”
