Fidel Castro has died at 90 years old. He was born on August 13, 1926 near Birán, Cuba. He will be cremated Saturday. Earlier this week, San Francisco 49ers quarterback, Colin Kaepernick praised Castro during a press conference. When asked about a shirt he wore earlier this year, Kaepernick complimented Castro’s commitment to criminal justice reform and education.

In 1945 he began studying law at the University of Havana. After graduating in 1950 he joined the Cuban People’s Party. By 1959 he overthrew Fulgencia Batista and became the country’s prime minister.
