Fats died on the same day that actor Robert Guillaume passed away. Domino’s music is timeless and represents everything New Orleans is about.

The public wasn’t notified about Domino’s death until Wednesday, October 25, 2017 but he died on Tuesday, October 24, 2017. The actual date of Antoine’s death made headlines because he died on the same day as Robert Guillaume aka Benson. Like Fats, Guillaume was 89-years-old.
Domino and Guillaume helped break racial barriers. Guillaume was the first black actor to win comedy Emmys while Domino was one of the first black musicians to be accepted by white audiences.
Fats Domino paved the way for New Orleans piano players
Fats was a piano playing prodigy. He started playing the piano at juke joints in New Orleans when he was 10-years-old. Domino had lightning fast fingers. His brother-in-law thought him how to play the piano and Antoine worked hard and eventually mastered the instrument.
