Brandon Griesemer is the 19-year-old accused of making threatening phone calls to CNN. The Novi, Michigan teen called the news channel 22 times from January 9 to January 10 of 2018. Griesemer declared that he was coming to “gun you all down” and criticized the network for reporting “fake news.”

On September 19, 2017, Griesemer called the Islamic Center of Ann Arbor, Michigan and made offensive comments about Muslims leaving worshippers concerned for their safety. Griesemer didn’t make a specific threat so he wasn’t charged. Evidence of the call can be presented in court to prove that Brandon’s pattern of derogatory phone calls.

Interstate Communications With Threat To Injure
Griesemer was charged with transmitting in interstate communications with the intent to extort and threat to injure. On January 19, 2018, he appeared in court and was released on $10,000 bond. If convicted, he could be sentenced to 20 years in prison. At the court hearing, the judge advised Brandon to get mental health help if he doesn’t want to go to prison.
The video at the end of this article explains that Brandon suffers from depression and doesn’t want to hurt anyone. Dawud Walid, the executive director of the Michigan Council on American-Islamic Relations explained that President Donald Trump should acknowledge how his past statements could have inspired Griesemer’s threats.
Walid explains that Brandon used Trump like language by calling CNN fake news. While the president has made numerous derogatory about CNN, I don’t think he’ll make a statement about this incident.
