Cardi B’s father is Trinidad and her mother is from Dominican. The rapper, whose real name is Belcalis Almanzar, was born in the Bronx, New York on October 11, 1992. Cardi has the best of both worlds and she grew up in the city where hip hop originated and evolved. AZ, Juelz Santana and Fabolous are three New York rappers who are also half-Dominican.
Nicki Minaj is another female rapper who has Trinidad roots. Like Cardi, Nicki grew up in New York. Cardi has explained that growing up in New York was rough. Her mother knew how the city was so she was very strict. Cardi says that her mother threw her down the stairs once.

Cardi’s father loved the night life. Him and Cardi’s mother are no longer together but Cardi still has a close relationship with both her parents.
