Caroline Vreeland plays the mother on Fox’s Star television series. Caroline plays Mary Davis, Star (Jude Demorest) and Simone’s (Brittany O’Grady) mother who passed away due to a drug overdose.

During the interview, Caroline reveals that she has been singing her entire life. She explains that she was shocked when she received her golden ticket. Vreeland shares her plans to use her music to change people’s lives. Caroline’s character on Star had an amazing voice but she was addicted to drugs.

In episode 3 of Star, “Next To Kin”, we see Mary using drugs in front of Star and Simone. Mary was a member of a group managed by Jahil Rivera (Benjamin Bratt). Carlotta (Queen Latifah) was also a member of the group. Carlotta blames herself for Mary’s death and refuses to let anything bad happen to Star and Simone.
Carlotta doesn’t want Star and Simone to work with Jahil but there’s nothing she can do. Jahil is convinced that Star’s special and Star is hungry for success.
