Empire Season 2 went by in a flash, didn’t? And now, after that crazy cliffhanger, summer is upon us. If you’re not quite feeling NBC’s constant showing up American Ninja Warrior and America’s Got Talent, there are plenty of shows that won’t exactly replace Empire in your heart, but it will give you a dose of drama to get you through the hiatus until Season 3 premieres in the Fall.

So check these summer TV shows out!
- Wayward Pines (Fox) – Terrence Howard also stars in this other Fox series as a quirky sheriff.
- The Bachelorette / Bachelor in Paradise (ABC) – Feel like some crazy romance drama and campiness? This long-running dating reality series has it in spades. And after JoJo picks her man, the cast offs will head to paradise for drama and love.
- UnREAL (Lifetime) – This critically-acclaimed series shows the behind-the-scenes drama of a Bachelor-like dating show.
- Power (Starz) – There are lots of Power and Empire comparisons out there, but hey, there’s enough room on TV for two awesome shows. This one comes from exec producer 50 Cent.
- Orange is the New Black (Netflix) – For a glimpse of what life may have been like for Cookie in jail, this acclaimed drama/comedy series takes place in a women’s prison.
- Greenlead (OWN) – This Oprah-led drama is about the family melodrama behind a megachurch.
