Since most folks — including myself — is getting ready to celebrate Thanksgiving tomorrow, here’s a quick recap of this week’s Empire episode to keep you up-to-date on the show and give you something to talk about dinner on Thursday that isn’t an intense conversation about politics or what you’re doing with your life.
Lucious figured out Laz’s deal and confronted him in front of Cookie, who seems to be okay with her ex-husband now. But Lucious is still not okay with youngest son Hakeem and Lucious decides to now shower his favor all over Andre and Rhonda (who is finally showing a baby bump! The baby is real, y’all!) in the form of a brand new huge mansion that he bought for them and their new family.
While visiting the new mansion, Rhonda and Anika once again bond — this time, it’s about the lengths one should go to keep a man. Anika tries to keep Hakeem, but fails in her efforts to embarrass Laura’s poor roots. I have a feeling Anika will not stop here, though. She’s got a whole hate-dream board filled with her Hakeem obsession. And that raises the questions: Does she have a Lucious board, too? Or did she only date Lucious to get to Hakeem? I’m going to stop asking questions because it’s getting weird.
In Philly, Cookie and Candace team up with Rosie O’Donnell (for real) to find addict Carol, who is seriously a mess. Candace and Carol also have a secret about what Carol did while Cookie was in jail. Jamal teams up to record with Alicia Keyes as Skye Summers, a soulful purple-haired pop artist. They bond, they make beautiful music together and they KISS! Jamal is as shocked as the audience is.
Next week is the fall finale and it looks like anything goes.
