Gideon Yeakley for My 600 lb Life is still alive.  Last year, he shared a tweet explaining that he had bypass surgery and has lost almost half his starting weight.  Gideon almost lost his family.  After his initial surgery, he didn’t want to do anything but sleep.  His wife, Kayleigh, threatened to leave him if he didn’t start helping her provide for their son, Jonathan.


Gideon Weighed 650 Pounds

Gideon Yeakley is proof that you can achieve anything you want if you are willing to stick to it.  Here’s a recent pic of him and his family:

When we first met Gideon he weighed 650 pounds and Dr. Nowzaradan told him that he needed to lose 50 pounds to be eligible for gastric bypass surgery.

Gideon’s surgery is a success.  One year after the surgery, Gideon loses more than 200 pounds.

Gideon Yeakley Sleep Addiction

After his surgery, the 34-year-old Oklahoma native couldn’t stop sleeping.  He has a wife and son so sleeping all day was unacceptable.  Feeling tired after bypass surgery is not normal and could be a sign of a vitamin deficiency.  Gideon promised his family that he would get a job after the surgery but he broke that promise.

Most people that appear on My 600 lb Life have trouble keeping up with their diets after their surgeries.  That wasn’t Gideon’s issue.  He has lost most of his immediate family members.  Gideon’s mother, father and sister have all passed away.

Gideon Finds A Job

Gideon lands a job as a juvenile detention officer.  He also starts helping his wife with Jonathan.  He went from 650 pounds to 429 pounds and was happy to take Jonathan to school.  Kayleigh was impressed and the couple’s marriage was back on the right track.  Gideon and Kayleigh recently welcomed their second child, a beautiful baby girl:
