Iman Shumpert And Teyana Taylor, Empire Worthy

BET reports that most of Teyana Taylor’s recent headlines have involved her baby with 2016 NBA Champion, Iman Shumpert.  That all changed last night at the 2016 MTV Video Music Awards.  Last year, when Shumpert claimed that Empire characters Hakeem Lyon and Tiana Brown were based off him and his fiancé, Teyana we didn’t know what he was talking about but now we see!

According to Slate delivered a baffling speech, discussing a wide variety of topics before introducing his new video, “Fade.” When you want to get your point across you have to be concise.  While Kanye discussed some important topics in his speech his message was unclear and too wordy.  On the contrary, Kanye’s visual for “Fade” was loud and clear: Teyana Taylor and Iman Shumpert have arrived.

Teyana Taylor vs Tiana Brown

Now that Teyana has shown the world what she is capable of, Iman had a point.  Both Teyana and Tiana are sexy recording artist with all the right dance moves.  There’s also no denying how similar their names are.  They are pronounced the same despite being spelled differently.

While the two ladies have a similar hairstyle Teyana doesn’t own the natural curly afro.  A substantial amount of women sport the hairstyle and they don’t have to ask for Taylor permission to do so.

Iman Shumpert vs Hakeem Lyon

Iman’s hair argument involving himself and Hakeem is also poor.  The basketball player believes that the show used his hi-top fade as inspiration for Hakeem’s hairstyle.  The hi-top was around before Iman was born.  Shumpert was born in 1990.  Rapper like Doug E. Fresh were sporting hi-tops throughout the 1980s.

Similar to Hakeem Lyon, Iman is all of a sudden pursuing a music career.  Empire debuted in 2015 and a few months later the shooting guard released a Cavaliers anthem track:

Hakeem doesn’t own hip hop music so he wouldn’t accuse the NBA player of stealing his lifestyle.
