Wow. Just wow. That was my reaction to Wednesday night’s episode of Empire, in which Freda finds out the dirty truth about what Lucious Lyon did to her dear old papa Frank. In epic fashion, she grabs a security guard’s gun and aims at Lucious — but shoots Jamal! After the episode aired, Jamal actor Jussie Smollett made a very cryptic tweet:
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time w/ @EmpireFOX. I love you all. Truth. Time 2 make a record & some movies. #Empire 🌹 pic.twitter.com/xeCONIhAlE— Jussie Smollett (@JussieSmollett) May 12, 2016
Excuse me?! That sounds a lot like Smollett saying his goodbyes to Empire and that Jamal is dead, but I think it’s a red herring. Mainly because Entertainment Weekly said so, confirming that Smollett remains on contract with the show. Unless he’s decided to break his contract, which has happened in Hollywood before.
Plus, next week’s episode will show Jamal recovering from being shot and he’ll “put the brakes on his music career as long as those closest to him continue the endless cycle of violence and fighting.” Word is that Hakeem and Laura will also get married.
