Katherine Ross Ridenhour is the 23-year-old high school teacher who was arrested for having a sexual relationship with a student. The Charlotte Observer reports that Ridenhour had a consensual relationship with a 17-year-old student at Cox Mill High School in North Carolina. Like Hunter Day, another teacher who was recently arrested for sexual misconduct, Katherine taught science. Unlike Day, Ridenhour did not cheat on her husband because she isn’t married. Ridenhour graduated from Liberty University in 2016 and was hired by Cox High School in August of the same year. She was the school’s cheerleading coach and science teacher.

Teachers Katherine’s age are Millennials who are just as tech savvy as the students they teach. While social media can be used in innovative ways to help students learn, academia is not prepared for its dangers therefore it should be banned from schools.
