Jenny Lumet is the screenwriter who accused Russell Simmons of forcing her to have sex with him in 1991. Jenny comes from a powerful family. She is the granddaughter of Lena Horne and the daughter of Sidney Lumet. Lena Horne broke barriers in the 1940s for black performers and Sidney Lumet was an award-winning director and filmmaker.

Russell Simmons released a statement on Thursday after Lumet accused the music mogul of sexual harassment. Simmons is the CEO of Rush Communications which includes more than 10 businesses along with 3 non-profits. He is the co-founder of Def Jam Recordings, one of the most influential record labels of all-time.

Russell Simmons made some horrible mistakes in 1991. Former model, Keri Claussen Khalighi recently accused Simmons of sexual harassment for an incident that occurred in 1991. Khalighi was 17 and claims that Simmons forced her to have sex while filmmaker Brett Ratner watched.

Simmons denied Khalighi’s allegations but his decision to step down from his companies makes him look guilty. Checks and balances are being applied to the entertainment industry one #MeToo story at a time. Powerful men will no longer be able to get away with sexual harassment.
