Anderson’s mother was born in Dallas, TX and her youth was very similar to her daughters: Music first. According to VH1 both Anderson and her mother started their careers when they were very young. When Garrett was 12-years-old she was named the musical director for a youth choir. Anderson got serious about her music career when she was only 15-years-old, writing lyrics and even performing.
