According to The Denver Post, her father still remembers hearing a soccer ball bouncing off the wall of his garage. At 14-years-old, she spent countless hours in the garage of her home, perfecting her juggling and footwork. She most likely worked hard thanks to her family’s competitive nature. Mile High Sports explains that everything was a competition with the Pughs.
While Mallory’s family was competitive, they still found time for fun. In the following video, Mallory shares an hilarious story about her wrist popping out of place and her father telling her that she wouldn’t be able to in play regionals. Mallory panics and pops her wrist back into place, causing more damage and leading her to having to be in a full arm cast for regionals. Mallory’s parents call the incident the “ultimate wedgy.”

On Friday night the team played Costa Rica and the 18-year-old looked amazing. The left winger led the USWNT to a 4-0 victory. The Colorado-native weaved through Costa Rica’s back line, setting up her teammates and scoring from impressive angles.
