Marla McCants from My 600 lb Life is doing great.  Recent pictures of the Nashville, Tennessee native can be seen below.  She currently weighs about 300 pounds.  Prior to her surgery, Marla weighed 800 pounds.  She was one of the heaviest individuals to appear on My 600 lb Life.  McCants lost nearly 300 pounds in the first year after her gastric bypass surgery.

Marla McCants refuses to try to walk

Marla was one of Dr. Nowzaradan’s most difficult patients.  After losing nearly 300 pounds thanks to her weight loss surgery, McCants stayed at the hospital but was discharged because she refused to cooperate.  Dr. Now sent medical technicians to Marla’s house to help her stand and try to walk for the first time in 5 years.  Sadly, Marla was able to stand but she was unable to walk.

Marla’s journey reminds us to never give up.  Before you give up, think about why you held on for so long.  For Marla, it was her kids.  She needed to lose more weight to qualify for skin removal surgery but her refusal to walk was setting her back.  Like many of the patients who appears on My 600 lb Life, Marla was stubborn and stuck in her ways.

Dr. Now gave up on Marla but luckily Marla’s daughter, Sierra, was able to convince the surgeon to help her mom.  Dr. Now and his medical staff helped Marla stand but she started walking again once she moved back to Tennessee.
