Nate Parker’s Homophobic Comments

The YBF explains that actor, Nate Parker, and his wife, Sarah DiSanto welcomed their fourth baby girl on Thursday, August 4, 2016.  The couple named their new bundle of joy, Justice.  The 36-year-old has been working on the film The Birth of a Nation which he directs and stars in.  He plays Nat Turner, a literate slave and preacher who led a rebellion seeking justice.

According to Ebony the Virginia native once proclaimed that he would never play a gay role to preserve the Black man.  In an interview alongside director, Gina Prince-Bythewood, the actor insulted Hollywood for feminizing the African American male on camera.  He further explained that Hollywood offers Black men roles that requires them to wear dresses and portray characters of “questionable sexuality.”

In the two short years since the actor made the comments we watched actor Jussie Smollett all but take over the world as Empire‘s Jamal Lyon.  Jamal struggles with his father’s issues with his sexuality but doesn’t allow him to negatively influence his career.  The character proves that being a gay man does not make you less of a man.
Comedian, Dave Chappelle made some of the most popular comments about the issue in an interview with Oprah Winfrey.  He explained that Hollywood tries to put Black actors in female attire to feminize them.  The greatest prison that people live in is the fear of what other people think.
