Today, March 9, 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the death of Notorious B.I.G. or what some people called him, Biggie Smalls. He was only 24-years-old when he was killed. His murder is still unsolved after 20 years.

2 Pac Shakur died before Biggie Small did and this shook Biggie to the core increasing his anxiety. He feared he would be next since there was a war going on in their circle of friends and acquaintances. Biggie Small’s fears came true on March 9, 1997, exactly 20 years ago today, when a car pulled up while Biggie was sitting in his car and shots were fired. Biggie was hit and killed.
How Did Notorious B.I.G. Become a Rapper?
Biggie Small was born with the real name of Christopher Wallace. During his teen years, he was a drug dealer before he became a famous rapper. He actually spent time in prison for selling crack before he became a famous rapper.
After getting out of prison, he met a group called ‘Old Gold Brothers’ and this is when he started experimenting on his own with music. This is when he started calling himself Biggie Smalls.
A demo tape he made of himself rapping landed in the hands of Mister Cee who was a well-known DJ. Once the DJ listened to his music, he had him featured in the hip-hop publication, ‘The Source.’
The featured article was noticed by the young producer, Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs who worked with Uptown Entertainment. This production company specialized in hip-hop and rhythm and blues. However, Combs decided to go on his own, starting the production company Bad Boy Entertainment and this is when he brought Biggie Smalls with him. Once this happened, he started calling himself Notorious B.I.G. and started making music with Sean ‘Puffy’ Combs.
Notorious B.I.G. released his debut album in 1994 after singing with Mary J. Blige and singing for a film. The debut studio album that was first released by him was called, ‘Ready to Die.’
