A shooting took place during a football game in Louisville, Kentucky’s Shawnee Park. Two people were killed during the Juice Bowl, a youth football game. Both men were pronounced dead on the scene and four others were injured. If there’s one day to stop the violence it’s Thanksgiving Day. No family should have to hear that a loved one was murdered, especially not during the holidays.
The children were off the field when the shooting occurred yet many of them were still at the park. Gunmen exchanged more than 20 shots while two women’s teams played flag football. Sadly, the murderers got away.

The incident moved Louisville past its homicide record. Gun violence in the United States is suddenly on the rise after sharp declines from 1993 to 2013. The economy has played a significant role in the increase. In the 90s and early 2000s the economy was healthy, leading to less violent crime.
President Donald Trump will need to consider potential solutions to gun violence in America. During his campaign, he blamed the nation’s gun violence issues on gangs and drug dealers yet he failed to present any possible solutions. How many more innocent people have to die before the issue is considered a problem worth solving?
