The Smokey and the Bandit semi truck was seen in season 7 of The Walking Dead. Episode 10, “New Best Friends” featured the Easter Egg. Smokey and the Bandit was a 1977 action comedy film that starred Burt Reynolds as Bo “Bandit” Darville. Bandit agrees to transport bootleg beer from Texas to Georgia for $80,000.
Smokey and the Bandit inspired numerous trucking films and it was great to see The Walking Dead pay homage to the classic movie. Richard and Daryl were seen hiding from the Saviors and ended up fighting about Carol. The truck that they were ducking behind was the truck from Smokey and the Bandit.

Fan of the series loved the Easter Egg. Snowman’s truck was a Kenworth W900. The popular truck brought the road to life for truck drivers around the world.

Like the person in the following tweet, I knew I had seen the truck somewhere. Smokey and the Bandit was one of 1977’s most popular films. Star Wars is the only movie that earned more money in 1977.
I KNEW that rig they were fighting next to looked familiar: it’s from Smokey & The Bandit! #TheWalkingDead @WalkingDead_AMC #TWD pic.twitter.com/8JllHLdd7n— Marc (@marclaw69) February 20, 2017
The Walking Dead‘s Easter Eggs are always great. While the series rarely pays homage to action comedies, Smokey and the Bandit is a perfect exception.
