Marion Suge Knight’s ex-wife, Michel’le Toussaint, appeared in a Lifetime special titled Michel’le: Still Standing.  She discussed her former relationship with Suge and Dr. Dre.  Michel’le was with Dre from 1987-1995.  Once she broke up with Dre she started dating Suge.  In 1991, Michel’le had a son with Dre and in 2002 she had a daughter with Suge.

Knight was born Marlon Hugh Knight, Jr., in Compton, on April 19, 1965.  People used to say he looked like Sugar Bear so they started calling him “Suge.” He played football in high school and college.  Knight attended El Camino College before transferring to UNLV.  He was an aggressive football player and used the same aggression to gain success in the music industry.

1987-2016

In 1987, Knight played for the Los Angeles Rams.  He was eventually cut by the team so he started working as a bodyguard for celebrities.  Bobby Brown was one is his first clients.  Knight fell in love with the music industry after working with Brown and seeing how much money he was making.

Suge established a publishing company and started working with Vanilla Ice.  He wasn’t doing too much work instead he was bullying Vanilla Ice.  He eventually convinced The D.O.C. and Dr. Dre to leave Ruthless Records and join him to form Death Row Records.  In 1991 they went to work and enjoyed instant success.  Dre’s first album The Chronic went triple platinum.

Snoop Dogg also signed to Death Row and his first album Doggystyle went Quadruple Platinum.  In 1995, Suge bailed Tupac out and signed him to Death Row.  In 1996 Tupac released All Eyez On Me which many believe is the best hip hop album of all-time.

In 2015, Knight ran over a man who was working on the set of Straight Outta Compton.  He was charged with murder and attempted murder.
