In Taraji P. Henson’s new memoir, Around the Way Girl, the Washington, D.C. native shares a story about her father, Boris Henson, attempting to kidnap her when she was only 4-years-old. After her father and mother split, Boris was desperate to see Taraji. Boris was abusive, leading the actress’ mother, Bernice Gordon to leave him and move in with a family member.
Separating a loving father from his baby girl can be very dangerous but Boris was struggling with both addiction and anger. Henson explains that her father would search for her and her mother from the top of building with his binoculars after they moved out. They were hiding out at Boris’ parents house in Northeast D.C. and his sister’s house located in Nanjemoy, Maryland.
Taraji P. Henson Kidnapped
Boris finally found Taraji at his sister’s house where demanded to see his baby girl. Taraji’s aunt didn’t want to open the door yet Boris was making a scene. He eventually left but then returned with a police officer. Boris was working as a cop so he was able to convince one of his co-workers to help him see his baby girl.
Taraji’s mother finally came to the door with Taraji and told Boris to stop making so much noise. She told him that he could see her for a few minutes but Boris snatched Taraji and tried to get away, running down the street with his baby girl. The cop that Boris brought with him pointed his gun at Boris and even considered shooting him.
The cop and Bernice hopped into his cruiser and searched for Taraji and Boris for hours. The pair were closer than they thought. Boris took his baby girl to a friend’s house located in the same area. Luckily, Boris’ friend was able to talk some sense into him and he decided to return Taraji to his mother.
The love between a father and daughter is forever!
