Social media and news station alike are all buzzing about
the latest tweets from President Donald Trump. The President has become rather
infamous as of late due to his twitter outbursts and apparent lack of a verbal
filter. This time however, Trump’s social media rampage had no political
agenda. Instead the President fired shots at none other than the legend
himself- Snoop Dogg.

On March 15th at 4:02 am, Trump tweeted: “ Can
you imagine what the outcry would be if @SnoopDogg, failing career and all, had
aimed and fired the gun at President Obama? Jail time!”

Trump took to social media in response to Snoop’s latest music
video, a remix of his song Lavender. Snoop’s video featured several characters with
painted clown faces. The video portrays a strong message about police brutality
and shootings within the black community, but that message is being overlooked
by the media and the President himself. Instead, the character that stands out
the most is an orange faced clown by the name of Ronald Klump.
In the video Klump is hit over the head with what appears to
be a sock filled with powder while standing at a podium to make a speech and is
knocked off balance with a dumbfounded look on his face.
Then Snoop is depicted holding a gun to Klump’s head and
pulling the trigger. A sign reading “Bang!” materializes and Klump’s character disappears
from the scene. When his character reappears again, he’s in chains. This
particular part of the video is what has Trump and many of his supporters calling
for jail time.
In response to being questioned about the nature of his
video, Snoop is quoted to say “When
I be putting —- out, I don’t ever expect or look for a reaction. I just put
it out because I feel like it’s something that’s missing. Any time I drop
something, I’m trying to fill in a void. I feel like it’s a lot of people
making cool records, having fun, partying, but nobody’s dealing with the real
issue with this ——- clown as president.”
Not surpsing in
the least that Snoop would have a far more diplomatic and mature response to
the music video’s critics than the President himself did, given Trump’s history
of being unable to hold his tongue on social media.
While this is
certianly not the first artist to voice their politcal opions and address serious
issues in our nation through their music- this is most certainly the first to
get a direct response from Our Commander in Chief. Time can only tell how
Donald will react next, but clearly, he is less than pleased with Snoop and his
latest video release.

To add more fuel to
the social media fire, rapper T.I responded to the President’s tweet with  a barrage of insults mocking everything from
Trump’s appearance to his abilities as Chief of State.
