Empire‘s eleventh episode of its third season, “Play On” featured Young Lucious (Jeremy Carver). We first see Young Lucious when Cookie is talking to her sister, Candace (Vivica A. Fox). A flashback shows Lucious and Cookie in a hotel room. Cookie is emotional because she ran away from home. Lucious calms her down and they have sex for the first time.

Cookie explains that she loves Lucious because he was her first. She’s trying to focus on her new relationship with Angelo but Lucious has her heart.

That’s not the only flashback we saw in “Play On.” We also see the couple’s hood wedding. In a third flashback, we see Lucious working on music. He’s in the zone and ignores Cookie. Lucious loves music. When Jamal tries to interrupt him in the studio he ignores him just like he ignored Cookie.
On the “Sin That Amends” episode of Empire we saw more of teenage Lucious. Him and his crew performed “Just A Friend” by Biz Markie on a street corner. Cookie couldn’t help herself. She approached Lucious and began showing off her dance moves. Seeing scenes like this convinces us that the former couple have too much history for Cookie to be done with him. We think she’ll give him another chance.

Jeremy Carver plays young Lucious Lyon on Empire‘s third season. Triston Gandy played the character when he was 13-years-old and Carver will pick up where he left off. Carver will show fans of the series how Dwight Walker used his amazing voice and bad boy swag to steal young Loretha Lyon’s heart.
Young Cookie will be played by actress, Ajiona Alexus. Unlike Carver, Alexus has years of acting experience. Empire is Jeremy’s first major role. You have to love Lee Daniels for creating opportunities for young entertainers. Bryshere Y. Gray, who plays Hakeem Lyon, is another actor who lacked experience.
