Anika is in jail on Empire for the murder of Tariq, Lucious’ brother.  Leah Walker, Lucious’ mother framed Anika.  In one of the scariest moments on Empire, Leah kills Tariq by stabbing him in the neck with a letter opener.  Leah gets Anika to use the same letter opener to frame her for the murder of Tariq.

After being locked up for months, Anika is finally able to get Cookie’s attention by telling Hakeem to tell his mom that she remembers January 7, 2015.  Cookie and Thirsty visit Anika in jail and we find out that January 7, 2015 is the date that Lucious killed Bunkie.  Anika threatens to snitch forcing Cookie and Thirsty to do whatever it takes to get her out of jail.

Leah Walker is going to a psychiatric hospital.  Thanks to Cookie, Lucious signed the paperwork.  She won’t be able to commit anymore murders with letter openers.

The tweet below explains that Anika was shocked to see Tiana holding Bella.  Anika was just released from prison and now she’s dealing with this.  Hakeem tells Anika that she can’t take Bella.  It looks like there could be a custody battle between Hakeem and Anika this season.
