2015 — The Year In ‘Empire’

If there was one single show that came to define everything 2015 represented, it was definitely Empire. In a single 12-month period, the hit Fox TV show aired one season and a half of Season 2, captivated audiences, created memes across the Internet, and turned its stars into household names. Not bad for one year, right? Let’s take a look back at the year that was for Empire.


January: Empire Debuted

February: Empire Becomes A Huge Hit; “Drip Drop” Becomes A Meme

Drip Drop” became that earworm that everyone simultaneous loved and said “WTF?” about. It also produced some glorious memes as the world got super into Empire and the Lyon’s saga.

March: Empire‘s Season 1 Finale Airs

It shatters records. It breaks hearts. It makes us want more.

April: Empire Withdrawal, But At Least The Soundtrack Was Released

The Season 1 Soundtrack shot to No. 1 on the Billboard charts. Naturally.

May: Jussie Smollett & Yazz Perform At The Billboard Music Awards



Just a little

Something that eased our Empire withdrawal. Smollett and Yazz play siblings on-screen, so they took their chemistry to the stage.

June: Empire Season 2 Begins Filming

August: Smollett & Yazz Perform At Teen Choice Awards

These two should considering touring together.

September: Empire Season 2 Premieres

Hallelujah! The time came and it was glorious.

October: The World Series Preempts Empire

Baseball was not as fun as an episode of Empire, but it just made us all appreciate the Lyons so much more.


December: Taraji & Terrence’s White Hot Holidays Airs
