Tiana, Empire’s R&B-pop star, marks McNeill’s first major acting role.Tiana Brown was a recurring character in the first season of Empire and a main character in the second season. Tiana from Empire aka Serayah McNeill graduated from Taft High School in Woodland Hills, California where she played basketball.
In Empire’s second episode Hakeem Lyon declares, “Your honor, you can blame it on Tiana!” The sexual tension between the two initially led us to believe that the show would explore their relationship but then we find out that Tiana is bixexual and in a relationship with another girl.

Tiana denies Hakeem’s offer to join his VIP at club Laviticus and she even calls Hakeem phony. Although Tiana’s first impressions of Hakeem were unflattering she becomes attracted to the young rapper’s success and the two hook-up after he performs No Apologies. By Empire’s False Imposition episode, Tiana has made the decision to be managed by Cookie Lyon.
