    Oprah explains that the Empire TV show has changed the face of diversity behind-the-lens.  The most recent evidence of this change is ABC’s new show Uncle Buck.

    The show is based on the hit movie of the same name.  We’d like to thank ABC for yet another masterpiece.  The network recently introduced Black-ish and now Uncle Buck.  We’d like to applaud their focus on diversity and we hope they keep up the great work.

    Deadline reports that the show was ABC’s best launch among adults 18-49 since 2009.  In the following video Mike Epps discusses being an Uncle Buck in real-life:

    Cast

    The show stars Mike Epps, Nia Long, James Lesure, Iman Benson, Sayeed Shahidi and Aalyrah Caldwell.  ABC did a great job selecting the cast.
    In the show’s first episode, Uncle Buck’s brother ask him to come over and babysit his kids.  Will (Uncle Buck’s brother) and Alexis don’t get much time to themselves thanks to their three kids so Buck is the perfect solution.
    Uncle Buck is played by Mike Epps, Will, is played by James Lesure and Alexis is played by Nia Long.  The oldest of the three children, is played by Iman Benson.  The second oldest, Miles, is played by Sayeed Shahidi.  The youngest child, Maizy, is played by Aalyrah Caldwell.

    What does the light blue ribbon stand for? There have been a variety of blue ribbons lately and this post will help you sort them all out.  The color is generally used as a symbol of drunk driving, child abuse and education.  The color has recently been used for different reasons.

    If you were watching baseball you probably noticed the players wearing powder-blue ribbons.  The players wear them to commemorate prostate cancer research.  Every year, players across the league wear the ribbons and wristbands on Father’s Day to promote awareness.

    If you live in the Elkhorn area of Nebraska, you probably noticed numerous blue ribbons.  Lane Graves, the 2-year-old who was killed by an alligator, is the reason the neighborhood is holding a blue ribbon tribute.  
    According to Us Weekly, members of the Ranch View Estates community have placed ribbons on mailboxes, doors and trees to show their support for the family.  In addition, community members have offered to babysit the Graves’ 4-year-old daughter, Ella, and they’ve coordinated a meal train.
    Conclusion
    Along with the initiatives mentioned above, the color has been worn to pay homage to the victims of hurricane Katrina and to symbolize anti-tobacco, specifically second-hand smoke.  The color symbolizes commitment, trust and dependability, making it perfect for all the initiatives it is currently being used for.

  • Brittney Griner Child Support

    Back in April, ESPN reported that WNBA star, Brittney Griner, was ordered to pay child support to her former lover, Glory Johnson.  Vibe reports that Griner was harassed with Happy Father’s Day tweets today.

    The Twitter trolls didn’t take Father’s Day off.  Sadly, the jokes poke fun at her sexual orientation.  A judge recently ordered Griner to pay child support for the couple’s twins despite the fact that the basketball player does not have any biological connection to the twins.

    It’s easy to forget that celebrities and athletes have feelings just like everyone else.  The hooper let her voice be heard and is now clapping back.  She sent the following tweet around 2 AM:

    The easy solution seems to be ignoring the messages but a better solution may be a filter system.  Social media services may be forced to monitor all the messages sent over their respected platforms if users continue to send reckless messages.

    Cyberbullying is defined as deliberate actions that are generally repeated.  The intent of the actions are to cause harm to another person.  Think twice before you send your next offensive message via social media.  The result could land you in prison.  What if the messages lead Griner to commit suicide?

  • How Did Anton Yelchin Die?

    There’s nothing sadder than covering death.  Live your life to the fullest because you might not be here tomorrow!

    We are sad to report that actor, Anton Yelchin, has passed away in a bizarre car accident.  Variety reports that the actor was only 27-years-old.  On Sunday morning, the LAPD explained that he was pinned between his own vehicle at his home in Studio City.

    The LAPD does not suspect any foul play.  The actor has a steep driveway and he got out of his car with the engine running.  His friends found him pinned between his car and a brick mailbox pillar.  The actor’s friends decided to go to his house after he didn’t show up to a rehearsal.
    The actor was best known for his portrayal of Pavel Chekov in the reboot series of Star Trek.  His acting career began in the 1990s when he appeared in Along Came A Spider.
    TMZ reports that he is best known for his roles in Star Trek and Alpha Dog.  This sad news reminds us that time cannot be taken for granted.  Many of us make the mistake of living our lives as if we have unlimited time.  
    Don’t take the your family and friends for granted.  It’s important for us to make spending time with our loved ones a priority.  Family time is sacred time that should be respected and protected.  
    The most important time is family time!

  • Dwight Howard And Bre-Z, Freda Gatz

    Your favorite Empire stars are staying busy during their time off.  NBA star Dwight Howard and Freda Gatz (Bre-Z) took an adorable picture after a WNBA game in Atlanta:

    The two were seen after the Chicago Sky vs. Atlanta Dream WNBA game at the Philips Arena.  The Dream defeated the Sky, 101 to 97.

    Bre-Z real name is Calesha Murray.  While she may seem short compared to Dwight Howard, there’s no doubt that she’s on the rise!

    We’ve been missing Calesha like crazy despite the fact she shot Jamal.  The last time we saw her she was in jail.  Lucious was first introduced to Freda when she was visited her father, Frank Gathers in jail and now Lucious is visiting her in jail:

    In an interview with SOHH, the rapper recently explained that Chris Rock is not her real father.  She also explains that she writes every piece of material delivered by Murray on the show.  
    A few years back Murray worked as a barber.  She had multiple celebrity clients, including Ludacris.  It’s a small Empire-world.  Who can forget Ludacris’ portrayal of Officer McKnight, a pain in Lucious’ rear-end.  Freda won’t have to worry about him thanks to Thirsty.   
    We hope that Freda’s released from prison soon and would love to see Howard make a guest appearance on the show! The third season premieres on September 21!

    Inquisitr reports that Sham Ibrahim regrets introducing K. Michelle to German Prince Mario Max Schaumburg Lippe.  Ibrahim, a pop artist, introduced the two during his art show.  On Monday’s episode of K. Michelle: My Life, the singer takes a trip to the prince’s house and he cooks her dinner.

    The prince’s cooking skills were on point but his conversation was horrible.  He refers to K. as a “booty star” and a “rapper.” The talented singer attempts to explain her occupation but the prince doesn’t seem to understand.
    The former Love and Hip-Hop star finds out that her new man might actually be an actor.  The “prince” explains that he is famous in Europe and has even designed his own underwear line.
    Background
    So is the prince actually a prince? The prince’s mother, Gertraud-Antonia Wagner-Schöppl, married Prince Waldeman of Schaumburg-Lippe in 2008.  He adopted Mario Max.  The video below shows K. Michelle’s friend, Jonathan, calling the prince out:
    Although he is not technically a prince, the man who adopted him is the great grandson of King Frederick VIII of Denmark who was the King of Denmark from 1906 to 1912.  Sadly, to be put in the royal line of succession you have to be blood of the royal.

  • Taraji P. Henson Has Some Solid Advice For Women

    You don’t mess with Empire’s Cookie Lyon — and you especially don’t mess with her portrayer, Taraji P. Henson. Both women are tough Empire ladies who know how to stand up for themselves. And Henson’s advice to empower themselves is just as blunt and straight to the point as you’d expect, according to People.

    “Just don’t take no s–––,” Henson told People at the 2016 Women In Film Crystal + Lucy Awards in Los Angeles on Wednesday. “You know, know you have a voice. Know that your voice is important, and fight until it’s heard. That’s what I did.”

    Henson won the Lucy Award for Excellence in Television and her speech was so empowering. “People are honoring me, and that’s because I’ve worked my a–– off to let people know that my voice is important, and you will not smother me,” she said. “You will not tell me that I’m not important. You will not tell me. So that’s how I build a career. I watched a lot of people eat crow.”

    She continued: “We’re all we got ladies. If we don’t support each other, who will? We have a bad rap sometimes in this industry – diva, difficult, catty. When all we’re doing is, in those moments when you call us being difficult, we’re fighting for what we deserve. If I do a job just as well as a man, people tune in every week, they see me, they root for me just like they root for him. Why should my pay be less than his?”

  • Jussie Smollett Movies And TV Shows, Plus An Infographic

    Jussie Smollett recently announced that he’ll play Langston Hughes in the upcoming Thurgood Marshall biopic.  The world fell in love with him as Jamal Lyon but he’s slowly but surely adding additional roles to his resume.

    The talented actor also landed a role in Alien: Covenant, set to release on August 4, 2017.  The film will most likely be the first blockbuster of his career.  The Alien franchise is produced by 20th Century Fox and directed by Ridley Scott.  Jussie’s in good hands to say the least.
    1992 marked the year the actor made his debut in the film The Mighty Ducks.  Two years later he landed a role in the movie North.  In 1994 he also starred in the ABC sitcom On Our Own alongside his five siblings.
    The actor disappeared from the industry from 1996-2011.  In 2012, Smollett returned to the entertainment world with the leading role in the film The Skinny.  The same year, the actor released his debut EP The Poisoned Hearts Club.  
    In 2015, the actor took over the world as everyone’s favorite Empire artist, Jamal Lyon.  He is currently signed with Columbia Records and will release a new album soon! Check out the infographic below for some additional facts about the amazing actor, songwriter and singer.

  • When Does Empire Season 4 Come On? [Infographic]

    Empire returns on Wednesday, March 28, 2018.

    Empire fans are eager to know when the show’s third season will start.  Television just isn’t the same without Fox’s hip-hop drama series.  As much as we complain about the show’s cliffhangers, Wednesdays are dull without new episodes of the series.

    The show will return for its fourth season on September 27, 2017 at 8/7c.  Lee Daniels, the show’s co-creator, recently left his directing gig for the the Richard Pryor biopic.  This is a great sign for us Empire fans.  We need him to focus on the show’s third season.
    The show’s third season will feature Lucious Lyon in a feud against his half-brother.  If the third season is anything like the first two, Lucious or Tariq could end up dead.  
    The show is not shy about violence.  From Lucious taking Bunkie’s life in the show’s first episode to Anika and/or Rhonda dying in the show’s most recent finale episode.  We created the infographic below to help you keep up with the status of the show’s major characters.
    For characters like Laz (Adam Rodriguez) and Officer McKnight (Ludacris) although we never witnessed them actually die, we’re pretty certain they’re gone for good.  This is not the case with Harper, Anika and Rhonda.  Harper was kidnapped but do you think she’s dead? Who do you think fell off the balcony?

  • What Does Rate 9 Mean On Instagram?

    Instagram users often judge each other on a scale from 1-10.  Users rate each others’ attractiveness on a scale from 1-10.  While a 10 typically means a person is perfect, a 9 means a person is hot.  You would go out of your way to be seen with the person.

    A 9 is typically used to rate one of the hottest, most popular individuals in school.  Prom queens and cheerleaders often receive the rating.  
    When cute or not is too vague, we use our handy scale in order to appraise the attractiveness of our peers.  A 10 is a dime piece, but most guys are far too cool to admit that a girl is a dime so most dime pieces receive 9’s. 
    What Does Rate 9 Mean On Instagram?
    This is similar to the hot or not system that Facebook originally used.  Business Insider explains that Hot or Not is the scandalous website that inspired Facebook.
    ABC News reports that the co-founders of Hot or Not are now parents who love to travel.  The couple sold the website in 2008 for $20 million.
    Back in 2012 Hotstagram was launched, a website that allowed users to vote on the hottest girls on Instagram.  The site is no longer active, leaving users to simply leave their ratings in the comments section of the photo-sharing app.
