Katorah Kasanova Marrero (“Kat”) was born on April 3, 1992 in East New York, a neighborhood located in the Brooklyn borough of New York City. The 24-year-old is better known by her stage name, Young MA. When she was a year old, her dad was sent to prison and wasn’t released until she was 11-years-old.
Young MA’s mother didn’t want her to attend New York City’s public schools so when she was 7 she moved to Virginia. Her mother has had a major influence on her career. When Young MA was 17-years-old, her brother was killed to gang violence. The tragic incident occurred in 2009. Her brother was 20-years-old.
