Alton Sterling, Did He Have A Gun?

Here we go again.  CNN reports that the video of the Alton Sterling incident is sparking outrage.  A second video has surfaced that captures the fatal shooting which occurred outside of the Triple S Food Mart located at 2112 N. Foster Dr. in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.

According to The Advocate the 37-year-old was armed but he was not holding the firearm during the incident.

New York Daily News explains that the Baton Rouge native was a registered sex offender, after a 2000 conviction for carnal knowledge of a juvenile.  In Louisiana carnal knowledge of a juvenile is committed when an individual who is seventeen or older has sexual intercourse, with consent, with a person who is thirteen or older but less than seventeen years old.

He served four years in prison for the incident.  He was also arrested in 2009 and spent five years in prison.  His family member argue that he was on probation and didn’t want to go back to prison.  Some believe that a firearm was planted on him to cover up the police officer’s mistake.  We’ve all been through this before.  Now, the public will focus on images like the following mugshot.

Images of the father of five with his family will be ignored.  Luckily, the incident was caught on camera.  This may increase the chance of justice being served.  At the time of the incident the officer couldn’t have reasonably feared that harm was imminent.  Alton was not holding the firearm therefore he couldn’t have shot anyone.

Don’t try to make sense of the incident because the father of five should be alive and breathing.  Black lives matter and more importantly human life matters.  Something must be done to stop the senseless killing of innocent people around the world.

TMZ discussed the incident with Los Angeles Clippers free agent forward Glen “Big Baby” Davis.  The Baton Rouge native explained that Alton Sterling was a great guy who wouldn’t harm a fly.
