Swatting Prank Explained
Investigators say that Finch was killed because of a “swatting” prank which occurs when a person makes up a false police report to get a SWAT team to show up at another person’s house. Someone called the police and claimed that a gunman committed murder at Andrew’s address. The person also explained that the gunman was holding people hostage.

Swatting pranks are common in the gaming community. In the past, gamers have made false reports about bomb threats, terrorists attacks and other emergencies.
When officers arrived at Finch’s door, they gave him commands to put his hands up. When you’re a victim of swatting, you’re shocked to see guns in your face when you answer your door so Finch most likely hesitated. Officers claim that Finch reached down at his waist before putting his hands up. They thought he had a weapon so a seven-year veteran of the police force shot him.
Call of Duty
The tweet below explains that the swatting prank was over a $1.50 Call of Duty wager. Call of Duty has been ridiculed for its violence but this incident proves that it’s not the game, it’s the players. Gamers who think swatting is acceptable are sick and should not be allowed to play video games.
