Billy Turner Memphis – Lorenzen Wright Murder

Billy Turner is the man who was arrested for the 2010 murder of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright.  Turner is 46-years-old and was arrested at the Collierville Express Mart in Shelby County, Tennessee.  He’s currently being held on $1 million bond.  Last month, police found the gun that they think Turner used to murder Wright.

Neighbors explain that Turner ran a landscaping business and was a very nice guy.  While Turner’s neighbors thought he was a nice guy his criminal record tells a different story.  In 1992, Turner pleaded guilty to reckless endangerment with a deadly weapon.

Wright made more than $50 million throughout his NBA career but a year after retiring he was selling drugs.  His ex-wife, Sherra Wright Robinson says she saw him leave her house on July 18, 2010 with drugs.  She overheard him say that he had plans to sell the drugs for $110,000.

Hours after Wright left Sherra’s house, he called the police and gunshots were heard before the call was dropped.  Wright’s dead body was found, in the woods, 10 days later.  He was 34.

Wright attended the University of Memphis and was drafted 7th overall by the Los Angeles Clippers in 1996.  The 96 draft was one of the greatest drafts of all-time.  Allen Iverson was selected 1st and the Charlotte Hornets selected Kobe Bryant with their 13th pick and traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers.
