Bianca Lawson is the actress who plays Darla on Queen Sugar. In episode 10 of the show’s first season, “So Far” we see Darla dropping her son, Blue (Ethan Hutchinson) off at school. Blue’s father, Ralph Angel (Kofi Siriboe) is giving Darla an opportunity to earn back the trust her drug addicted past has cost them.
Aunt Vi isn’t happy about Darla taking Blue to school. While Darla was away, Aunt Vi became Blue’s legal guardian. Blue brings a permission slip home for a trip to the zoo that Ralph signs. When Blue brings it to school, his teacher calls Ralph and lets him know that Aunt Vi has to sign it.

The episode makes it clear that Darla and Ralph Angel are unable to make important decisions involving their own child. Bianca’s portrayal of Darla is compelling. The 37-year-old is one of the most talented actresses in the industry. Her experience is paying off. She’s best known for her role in Pretty Little Liars, Saved by the Bell: The New Class and Buffy the Vampire Slayer.
Lawson has numerous talented family members. Beyoncé Knowles is Bianca’s step-sister. Bianca’s father, Richard Lawson is an actor who married Beyoncé’s mother, Tina Knowles in 2015. Bianca’s mother, Denise Gordy, is Marvin Gaye’s mother. Denise gave birth to Marvin when she was 17-years-old. Her aunt, Anna Gordy Gaye, faked a pregnancy and adopted Marvin.
