Dave Chappelle’s new Netflix special just got a premiere date, and it’s much sooner than any of us expected!

The new original stand-up comedy special which will be directed by Stan Lathan (Sanaa Lathan’s dad), is set to hit Netflix on March 21, 2017! Yup, we will be getting all-new Chappelle in just a few short weeks.

This new special was filmed at Austin City Limits and The Hollywood Palladium and are some of Chappelle’s first concert specials in 12 years. They will be released simultaneously, along with two additional never-before-seen specials from Chappelle’s personal comedy vault.

Netflix VP of Original Documentary and Comedy Lisa Nishimura said in a statement, “Dave Chappelle is a legendary voice in comedy — searing, vital, and now more than ever, essential. Dave’s three new specials promise to be some of the most anticipated events in comedy, and we are honored he will mark his global return on Netflix.”

After stepping away from the spotlight when he walked away from his critically acclaimed Chappelle’s Show in 2006, Chappelle began touring again in 2014. In the past three years, he’s performed at over 500 concerts  When he came back in 2014, Chappelle sold out ten consecutive comedy performances at Radio City Music Hall in New York City; something that has never been done before us.
