‘Empire’ At The People’s Choice Awards

The people have spoken: While Empire was nominated for several People’s Choice Awards, the hit Fox drama lost the awards it was up for to ABC’s Grey’s Anatomy on Wednesday night. Empire was nominated for Favorite Network TV Drama, Terrence Howard was nominated for Favorite Dramatic TV Actor, and Taraji P. Henson (Cookie) was nominated for Favorite Dramatic TV Actress.

Grey’s Anatomy took home the Network TV Drama award, while Grey’s actress Ellen Pompeo won the trophy for Favorite Dramatic TV Actress. Taylor Kinney won the award for Favorite Dramatic TV Actor. The People’s Choice Awards is an award show where the winners are determined by fan vote, so it’s a bit of a bummer for Empire fans, but have no doubt: The TV series is still beloved and awesome, but young compared to Grey’s which has been on the air since 2005. Just think of it this way: Grey’s Anatomy had 10 years to build up that fan base.

Other winners include Supergirl for Favorite New Series, Person of Interest was named Favorite Crime TV Drama, Homeland won Favorite Cable TV Show, and Pretty Little Liars took home Favorite Cable TV Drama. The Big Bang Theory won Favorite TV Show and Favorite Network TV Comedy.

There’s always next year!
