‘Empire’ Star Taraji P. Henson Responds To The July Shootings

Last week, oh, last week. Such a heartbreaking and sad and frustrating week with the shooting deaths of Alton Sterling and Philando Castile by police officers, as well as the deaths of many Dallas police officers by a sniper at a Black Lives Matter march. The Empire stars had lots of to say about July’s police shootings and took to social media to speak freely in support of the Black Lives Matter movement.

Taraji P. Henson, Al Sharpton

Taraji P. Henson was especially passionate about the topic. See her Instagram posts below.

Spoken so eloquently!!! 👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾 ALL PPL CAN WE TALK?!?! Intelligent conversations about RACE IN AMERICA!!! It is time!!! #TheTruth will set ALL LIVES FREE!!! I had to repost this‼️ #Repost @mrchrisclassic with @repostapp ・・・ The true COLLECTIVE narrative is NOT hate. It IS however, frustration that has become an outcry, that is being judged and dismissed as divisive… and THAT is a catalyst to this outcry becoming something else. Think of the stigmas “angry black woman” “violent black man”. The same people who are quick to sling those stigmas as an auto-response NEVER once analyze and consider how. And if they DO, they pardon the transgressions of their ancestors by saying “that was a long time ago, get over it,” as they ceremoniously buy charcoal and fireworks to celebrate the nostalgia of what also happened a long time ago, because to THEM, THAT feels GOOD. In business, if an aspect of corporate responsibility is failing, you develop a committee with a budget set aside to bring it up to par. Right? Why is so far fetched I feel that the lives of Black people are being disregarded and thus special attention needs to be specifically given at THIS particular time to address Black lives mattering up to par with White Americans? It seems like simple logic. Unless you dont believe that aspect of business is worthwhile or essential for the company to thrive. And well…. thats what it seems right now. And I’m a human being. We are human beings. ©
