‘Empire’ Stars Jussie Smollett & Yazz To Perform On Pitbull New Year’s Eve Special

Counting the days until Empire‘s return on March 30, 2016? Me too. In the meantime, I have good news for you. No, not new episodes magically appearing (sorry). According to The Hollywood Reporter, we can catch stars Jussie Smollett (Jamal Lyon) and Yazz (Hakeem Lyon) on Fox’s Pitbull’s New Year’s Revolution.

The special will air live on New Year’s Eve on Dec. 31 at 8 p.m. (tape-delayed for the West Coast) and will ring in 2016 with Mr. Worldwide himself, along with co-host Terry Crews (Brooklyn Nine-Nine) and daytime talk show host Wendy Williams. Other performances on the live special include Puff Daddy and the Family, Shawn Mendes, R. City, and Earth, Wind & Fire.

Pitbull actually appeared on Empire‘s second season as himself and recorded a song and shot a music video with Smollett for the song “No Doubt About It.” Because of course Mr. Worldwide would exist in the Empire universe.

Together, Smollett and Yazz have performed on co-stars’ Taraji and Terrence’s White Hot Holidays and the Nickelodeon Teen Choice Awards earlier this year. Pretty darn cool. It’ll be the icing on top of a year that launched both Smollett and Yazz into stardom through their roles on Empire and their talent as musicians on the show.

It’s nice to have the Lyons back to ring in 2016, even if we do have to wait all the way until the end of March 2016 to get new episodes of the hit TV series. So many days, but I think we all know it’ll be worth the wait.
