The magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Vanessa Satten, visited the Breakfast Club where she also explained why Cardi B didn’t make the list.
Satten explains that Cardi B was on XXL’s radar but Cardi seemed focused on reality television instead of hip hop. XXL reached out to Young MA but the Brooklyn rapper feels like she’s beyond the Freshman list. Satten says that Young MA thinks she deserves to be on the cover of the magazine.
