Prince’s sudden death has led many to ask how do you die from the flu? Last week, Hollywood Life reported that the singer was rushed to the hospital after his plane landed in the middle of the night.

Live Science reports that many of us underestimate how deadly the flu is.  The flu is actually an infectious disease that kills thousands year after year.

Forbes reports that Prince was battling the flu since April 7, forcing him to cancel two of his shows in Atlanta.  The article explains that young people can die from the flu and it’s not uncommon for the currently circulating flu strain to have a disproportionate effect on young and middle-aged adults.

The singer may have caught the flu in the state.  In 2014, The Augusta Chronicle published an article that discussed Georgia’s substantial number of influenza-associated deaths.  Georgia’s Department of Public Health reported that Georgia’s flu season was worse than normal in 2015.

The Center of Disease Control reports that the flu is contagious.  People can spread the flu from about 6 feet away.
