Is Colin Kaepernick Dead? Pig Socks, Veterans And Tomi Lahren

Colin Rand Kaepernick is not dead.  The San Francisco 49ers quarterback is alive.

ESPN explains that the Santa Clara police union is demanding some respect.  They threatened to stop working the San Francisco 49ers home games due to Colin Kaepernick’s recent actions.  This reminds us of Beyonce’s Super Bowl performance.  The singer made tributes to the Black Lives Matter movement and the Black Panthers, leading the Miami Fraternal Order of Police to call for a boycott.

According to Mic the quarterback made national news after he took a seat during the national anthem.   The incident occurred on August 26, 2016 before the San Francisco 49ers played the Green Bay Packers.  The Wisconsin native explained that he will not stand for a country that oppresses people of color.

Pig Socks

Following the 28-year-old’s decision to sit during the anthem, he wore a pair of socks with a cartoon pig wearing a police officer’s hat.  “Pig” is a derogatory term often used to insult police.  While it’s important to be honest about how you feel, the quarterback’s delivery is a bit too strong.  There are children who look up to him therefore he has to make his messages concise.  Wearing socks with a picture of a pig on them may persuade his fans to call officers pigs which could be disastrous.

Veterans

The NFL star is surprisinly receiving support from military veterans.  A Vote Vets petition was created and it already has over 5,000 supporters.  In addition, the hashtag #VeteransForVaepernick was recently one of the top trending topics on Twitter.

Tomi Lahren

Tomi Lahren of The Blaze has criticized the quarterback’s decision to sit, describing it as an overt attack against white people.  The television personality discussed the incident on three episodes leading Twitter users to attack her via the social media app.
