Is Jeh Johnson Black?

Is Jeh Johnson black? Yes, the 59-year-old is black.  In 1998, he was appointed General Counsel of the Department of the Air Force.  Former President, Bill Clinton was in office at the time.  Prior to accepting his appointment as General Counsel, he was the first African American partner at the prestigious law firm Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison LLP.

Johnson was the General Counsel of the Department of the Air Force until 2001.  Following his tenure, he returned to Paul, Weiss, Rifkind, Wharton and Garrison LLP.  Some of the firm’s notable representations include detainees at Guantanamo Bay and Deflategate.

Johnson was born on September 11, 1957 in New York City.  His father was an architect and his mother worked for Planned Parenthood.
On December 23, 2013, President Barack Obama appointed Johnson the Secretary of Homeland Security.
Brian Kemp, Georgia’s Secretary of State, recently accused the Department of Homeland Security of attempting to breach their offices firewall.  He sent Johnson a letter, requesting an explanation.  
A cybersecurity provider detected the Department of Homeland Security’s IP address.  The provider reported that the Department attempted to penetrate Georgia’s firewall.
