Is Live PD Really Live?

No, Live PD is not really live.  There’s an industry standard delay.  The A&E series is a “live news program” enabling it to show people’s faces on camera without their consent.

The series follows news-gathering guidelines and not all content is aired.  Police enforcement can be dangerous and gruesome so Live PD‘s producers ensure that certain footage is not aired.

Is Live PD Really Live?

Live PD offers a rare behind-the-scenes look at policing at a very important time.  Numerous unarmed individuals around the nation have been shot and killed by police and Live PD increases transparency and forces officers to use more care when carrying out their duties.

We usually have to wait months before seeing body cam footage but Live PD can potentially make footage available moments after an incident occurs.  The series strengthens the bond between law enforcement and members of specific communities by documenting their interactions with each other.

Live PD forces viewers to consider both sides of disagreements between the public and law enforcement.  In the video below, a police officer approaches an individual that he knows is a gang member.
