Juwan Royal Lehigh University, Poisoned By Yukai Yang

Juwan Royal is the former Lehigh University student who was poisoned by his roommate, Yukai Yang. BET reports that Yang has been arrested after authorities discovered that he’s been poisoning Royal for months.

Juwan Royal Was Poisoned With Thallium, Used For Rat Poison

Atlanta Black Star explains that Yang poisoned Royal with thallium which is used for rat poison. Yang admitted to buying the chemicals but claims that he planned to use them on himself if he did poorly on exams.

Juwan Royal Vomited For 45 Minutes Straight

Royal was taken to the hospital after vomiting for 45 minutes straight. Yang added thallium to food and drinks that Royal kept in his fridge. Thallium has been banned in the United States.

Yukai Yang Charges

Yang is 22 and has been charged with attempted homicide, ethnic intimidation, aggravated assault, simple assault, reckless endangerment, institutional vandalism and criminal mischief.

The following tweet points out that Royal and Yang remained roommates after Yang wrote the N-word on a desk in the dorm room they shared. They should have been separated after the incident and Lehigh will most likely be held liable for failing to respond to Yang’s actions.
