Vulture explains that gymnast, Lauren “Laurie” Hernandez, achieved two honors last night in Rio: She became a gold medalist and she also became the national team’s sweetheart.  While Michael Phelps’ #PhelpsFace was everything we love about our boy from Baltimore, Hernandez brought something different to the table.

There’s nothing like youth.  It’s easy to tell that she’s the youngest member of the United States women’s gymnastics team.  On June 9, 2016 the talented Puerto Rican gymnast celebrated her 16th birthday.  There’s nothing sweeter than Hillary Clinton tweeting about you:

The New Jersey native started doing gymnastics when she was only 5 years old.  Her years of dedication are paying off.  She’s not the only athlete in her family: Her sister, Jelysa, is a black belt in karate and her brother, Marcus, runs varsity track.
