Matthew Riehl – Colorado Shooting

Matthew Riehl is the Denver, Colorado shooting suspect who shot 5 law enforcement officers and killed one of them: 29-year-old Zackari Parrish.  Riehl was born on September 9, 1980 and was 37-years-old.  He was shot dead by officers.  The Douglas County Sheriff reports that Matthew opened fire at an apartment complex in Highlands Ranch, Colorado.

Officers were first called to Riehl’s apartment complex at 3 AM.  Someone reported a verbal disturbance and when officers arrived a man in Matthew’s apartment explained that Matthew was having a mental breakdown.  Officers left after 45 minutes and they were called back to the complex a few hours later.

When officers returned to the apartment they spoke with Riehl for about 30 minutes and then he barricaded himself in a bedroom and started shooting.  One deputy was killed and four were injured.

Riehl posted the following YouTube video earlier this month.  In the video, Riehl rants about Brian Briggs, a Douglas County officer.

Chick-fil-A in Colorado opened on Sunday to feed police

The Chick-fil-A located at 8515 Park Meadows Center Dr., Lone Tree, CO 80124 opened on Sunday to feed law enforcement after the incident.  The restaurant provided 400 sandwiches to first responders.
Last year, a Chick-fil-A in Orlando opened on a Sunday to help after the mass shooting at Pulse, a gay nightclub.
